Text: Un Monde en changement, le développement de l’autonomie

The grade 7 Social Studies curriculum examines the history of Canada from the beginning of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The idea of empowerment is key to each of the following themes of study this year:
Materials: binder, duo tang, pen, French/English dictionary, compass set, Tablet, etc.
Daily work: This is a very important part of the learning process and must be completed. Students should have enough time in class to finish their daily tasks, but in the event that they do not, they are still responsible for the completion of that work and it will be checked the following class.
Evaluation: A variety of evaluation methods are used to assess progress: daily tasks, assignments, binder checks, quizzes, tests, participation, projects, presentations, self-evaluation and peer evaluation.
Tests 30 % (students should go over notes daily)
Travail quotidien 40 % (classwork)
Projects 30 % (Projects, presentations)
Total 100%

Political empowerment
Cultural empowerment
Social empowerment
National empowerment
- To develop our knowledge of the culture, politics, economy, societies and the people who live here;
- To examine how our lives are interrelated with both those within the region and those who live beyond;
- To discover how perspectives like physical setting, culture, economics, technology and interdependence affect each other and so shape our lives;
- To increase thinking, reading and communication skills as used in social studies;
- To help students grow in respect for others, particularly with regard to the ideals of human rights, multiculturalism and citizenship.
